The ASAE Foundation directly supports the mission of ASAE. Through its work in research and leadership development, the Foundation creates knowledge that will inform experiences and develops leaders who will define the association community. This is work that no individual or organization can do on its own but affects and enhances all.
The ASAE Foundation works in two key ways to advance associations and association professionals: Research and Leadership Development, both through a lens of innovation. The Foundation's rigorous research agenda supports association management as a unique sector in the nonprofit community by building the body of knowledge needed to survive today and into the future. The Foundation also works to develop and enhance programs designed to equip the next generation of association leaders with the knowledge and skills required to successfully manage challenges and opportunities in the future.
Individual and organization Annual Fund donations provide significant program support that covers the research and leadership initiatives that the association profession needs and that the ASAE Foundation provides.
ASAE's Research Department conducts two types of research- Industry and Market.
Industry Research. This research is conducted for the benefit of our members and our profession and includes benchmarking, strategic, and/or future-focused research. Publications like the compensation survey, Policies and Procedures in Association Management, Operating Ratio Report, all of the "Decision to" studies, trends, and management of the relationship with the Center for Nonprofits at NC State are included. Industry Research is brought to members through the ASAE Foundation.
Market Research. The Research Department helps ASAE staff develop new or analyze existing programs, products and services. We conduct an annual member needs assessment, learning program evaluations as well as data mining to help ASAE better serve each member. We help non-profit organizations by assisting them in gathering market intelligence of their own members, either by survey question sharing or data analysis projects.
